THE PERSON

Lara's story

Lara Micallef works at The Red Door Clinic as a qualified massage therapist, aromatherapist and reflexologist. The fuller biography has not been supplied., childhood, why she trained, and how she likes a first session to feel are hers to add.

What is confirmed is the combination she is living now: hands-on therapeutic work in clinic, and a third year of physiotherapy study at the University of Malta. The portrait on this page shows her in a Faculty of Health Sciences polo, which is why this photograph was matched to her and not to anyone else.

An enquiry with Lara can cover massage, aroma or reflexology. Say which you mean. She is not the lead physiotherapist. If you need an assessment of pain, injury or a change in movement, book Andrew and mention that you may also want time with Lara.

WHAT SHE IS QUALIFIED IN

Qualifications

The clinic lists three qualified practices. Awarding bodies and course titles are not published yet.

Massage therapy

She is a qualified massage therapist. Therapeutic and back massage are the sessions to name if tension in the back is what you want addressed. Describe where it sits and whether it spreads. Spreading or unexplained pain may need physiotherapy first.

Aromatherapy

She is an aromatherapist. Oils are not neutral for everyone. Tell her about sensitivities, pregnancy or medical treatment before any oil is used.

Reflexology

She offers reflexology, so a feet-focused appointment can be booked with her as well as with Aleksandra. Say reflexology, not “a quick foot rub”, so the diary is right.

UNIVERSITY OF MALTA

Studying physiotherapy at the University of Malta

Lara is currently a third-year physiotherapy student at the University of Malta. That study expands her clinical foundation. It does not make a massage appointment a physiotherapy assessment, and it does not mean she is registered as a physiotherapist.

The useful part for patients is the combination: someone who already works with massage, aromatherapy and reflexology, and who is studying the clinical questions physiotherapists are trained to ask. If your visit raises a question that belongs in an assessment, she can point you to Andrew rather than stretch a massage booking to cover it.

APPOINTMENTS

Treatments with Lara

Name the treatment in the enquiry. You can change pressure during a session.

Therapeutic and back massage

Ask for therapeutic or back massage if that is the aim. Say how the back feels through the day and what you have already tried.

Aromatherapy massage

Aromatherapy massage adds scent and oil to the session. Mention asthma, pregnancy, broken skin and any scent you dislike. The team would rather delay an oil than guess.

Reflexology

Reflexology with Lara is a separate request from back massage. One-hour reflexology on the published list is €60.
