THE RED DOOR CLINIC · MELLIEĦA
Physiotherapy for Gozo, Mosta and the north of Malta
Ten minutes from the Ċirkewwa ferry and a short drive from Mosta and St Paul's Bay.

From Gozo
The practical advantage of a Mellieħa clinic, if you live in Gozo, is the ferry. Ċirkewwa is the Malta-side terminal, and the clinic at 41, Triq Franġisk Żahra is a short drive from there, about ten minutes in ordinary traffic. You do not need to cross the island to Valletta or Sliema for a physiotherapy assessment.
Build the day around the boat, not the other way around. Check the Gozo Channel timetable before you book, allow time to disembark, and tell us whether you are on foot, in a car, or being dropped off. If a crossing is cancelled or delayed, contact the clinic as soon as you know. We would rather move the appointment than have you rush a treatment because the return boat is tight.
A first visit is a consultation and assessment, published at €55, with follow-up physiotherapy at €45. Say if you hope to combine physiotherapy with a massage on the same day. Whether that is possible depends on who is in clinic and how long each appointment needs. We will not promise a double booking we cannot keep.
From Mosta, Naxxar and St Paul’s Bay
From Mosta or Naxxar, allow roughly thirty to forty minutes by car, depending on the time of day. St Paul’s Bay and the Bugibba side are closer, often a short drive up to Mellieħa. Mġarr (Malta) sits nearby as well. These are typical drives, not a guarantee. If you are coming at school-run or ferry-rush hour, add time.
Parking and step-free access are things to confirm before you rely on them. If you use a wheelchair, a walking aid, or need a companion in the room, say so when you book so the team can tell you what the entrance is actually like.
You do not have to be a Mellieħa resident. A large part of the diary is people who travel because they want a particular physiotherapist, not because the clinic is at the end of their street. If a closer clinic is genuinely easier, we will not pretend otherwise. The reason to come north is the assessment and the person doing it.
Why patients travel to Mellieħa
People travel for a physiotherapist they trust, not for a postcode. Andrew George is a British-trained musculoskeletal physiotherapist with over 20 years across the NHS, private practice and professional sport. The clinic’s line is that we do not just treat pain; we look for the cause. That is as true for a desk worker from Mosta as it is for a runner coming off the ferry.
The same building offers massage with the therapy team, so a trip can cover more than one kind of appointment when the diary allows. Physiotherapy and massage are not interchangeable. If pain, injury or a change in movement is the reason for the journey, start with the assessment. Massage can follow when it is the right tool.
Visitors staying in the north, Mellieħa, St Paul’s Bay, or a Gozo holiday with a day in Malta, can enquire with their travel dates. A short holiday is a poor time to start a long rehab plan, and we will say so if that is the honest answer.
Opening hours that fit a ferry day trip
The clinic is open Monday to Friday only, and the hours alternate, which matters if you are timing a boat. Monday and Wednesday are 08:00–15:00. Tuesday and Thursday are 12:00–19:00. Friday is 08:00–14:00. Saturday and Sunday are closed. A morning boat pairs more easily with a Monday, Wednesday or Friday appointment. An afternoon boat pairs more easily with Tuesday or Thursday.
Tell us the crossing you have in mind and we will say whether the diary can meet it. We cannot hold the ferry, and we cannot extend Friday past the published close for a late boat. If neither pattern works, ask about another week rather than squeezing a visit into a gap that leaves you late for the return.

A LITTLE CLARITY
Frequently asked questions
Can I book back-to-back physiotherapy and massage on one visit?
Ask, and we will check the diary. It is sometimes possible on a day when both the physiotherapist and a massage therapist are in clinic, with enough time between the ferry and the close of day. It is not guaranteed, and it is not always clinically sensible on a first visit if the assessment needs to stand alone. Contact the clinic with your date and your crossing, and we will tell you what can be booked together.
Is Mellieħa really ten minutes from the ferry?
In ordinary traffic, the drive between Ċirkewwa and the clinic is about ten minutes. Ferry queues, summer traffic and finding the street can add time. Leave a margin, especially if you have a return boat the same afternoon.
Do you have a clinic in Gozo or Mosta?
No. There is one clinic, in Mellieħa. This page explains the journey. It is not a claim that we run a room in each town.
